Blackhawks Sell Melted Ice From Championship Rink -- Really
By Dan Jenkins
Are you looking for a way to commemorate the 2013 Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Championship season?
Didn't think so.
Regardless of your allegiance, the Blackhawks are selling vials of melted ice from the United Center's home ice from last season's Stanley Cup Championship team. The tubes cost $99 with all proceeds going to Chicago Blackhawks Charities. Each package includes:
- One etched vial of official melted 2013 championship ice from the United Center with engraved rubber puck stoppers
- A collectible leatherette box with a debossed Blackhawks logo on top
- A letter of authenticity signed by Blackhawks President & CEO John McDonough
- Each limited-edition vial is individually numbered, and only 2013 pieces will be sold
You could always buy one to support charitable giving, but we won't ask what you do with the tainted water later.
One question remains: Will Chicago be able to remember the recipe for ice after the championship floor is gone?
