Bishop Airport In Flint Evacuated Due To Suspicious Bag
FLINT (WWJ) - Around 200 employees and travelers were evacuated from a Michigan airport Thursday after a report of a suspicious bag.
Bishop International Airport in Flint posted on social media, early in the afternoon, that there was an incident under investigation in connection with an "unattended" bag found at the airport.
State, federal and local police evacuated the terminal for a sweep of the building and asked people not to come to the airport. Flyers were urged to check with their airline for delays or cancellations.
No one was injured, nothing dangerous was found and police now believe that bag was just accidentally left behind.
At 2 p.m., airport posted the following update to Facebook:
"The airport is operating as normal and the airlines are working with passengers if they missed a connecting flight. Please contact your airline if you have any questions. Thank you to everyone for your patience. We're happy to report every flight scheduled after 1:30 p.m. is on time and we do not expect any delays."
It's unclear at this time who left the bag or what was in it.
