Big Ten Becoming League Of Haves, Have Nots At QB
(AP) - The Big Ten is increasingly becoming a quarterback-driven league.
Coaches who have the best quarterbacks often have the top teams. Coaches using multiple quarterbacks typically don't fare as well.
It's not coincidence.
All five Big Ten schools ranked in this week's Top 25 - including the three unbeaten teams - have primarily used one quarterback this season.
The five teams using some sort of rotation, out of choice or because of injuries, are a combined 13-16.
Coaches around the league understand that naming a starter and sticking with him can assist with player development and continuity. And that can have a bigger effect on a team's success than trying to confuse defenses by juggling quarterbacks.
