After Team Unicorn, Category 4 and Big Sister all won their safety on day one of the season. The Freakazoids, which consists of Nicole, Corey, Glenn and Tiffany, are all fighting for their survival in the house. Then a new Head of Household (HOH) is announced and we have our first two houseguests nominated for the season. Here's my recap of last night's episode.
The Veterans vs Newbies
Da'Vonne aka Mama Day's observations of "Newbies vs Veterans," was quite clear and she wanted to make sure to get one of the newbies on their side. Tiffany feeling the pressure of needing to win the next competition confesses again to another houseguest that she's Vanessa's sister. Meanwhile for the newbies, Paul is making sure that Corey and Glenn run to win HOH, so they can eliminate a veteran. However for Corey, he's already shown interest in working with a veteran. I'm impressed that our Michigander, Nicole is keeping her head in the game and making sure to set herself up for success, meaning convincing Corey that she should be HOH.
Glenn is sent home & Nicole is chosen as HOH
The final round of the "Hit the Road," competition had the Freakazoids to compete individually for their safety and the last person to complete the competition will be eliminated. All the newbies were cheering for the newbies while the veterans' just cheer everyone on. Nicole was the first to complete the challenge of grabbing coconuts, placing them on the SOS while balancing on the island then once complete grabbing a flag with all their coconuts in place. Tiffany was next to complete it, leaving Corey and Glenn to finish. There was a replay of who actually completed first because both Corey and Glenn grabbed their flag at the same time. In the end it was the 50 year old, Dog Groomer and former NYPD narcotics officer Glenn Garcia from Bronx, NY was sent home on the first day.
Corey, Nicole and Tiffany then had to decide between the three of them who would be HOH. As Nicole had predicted, neither Corey nor Tiffany wanted HOH. Giving the veterans a chance to survive the first week of the season and almost guaranteeing another newbie will be evicted. Many of the newbies were clearly upset with the announcement of Nicole as the new HOH and if these new houseguests were smart they would have seen this coming and try to start working with the veterans.
Nicole's Target
Now that the veterans are in power, the newbies needed to shift their attention to Nicole to try and get who they want on the block. Paulie having a connection with the veterans with his brother, season 16 runner-up Cody Calafiore, he knew he would want to work with the veterans. Victor tried to see where Nicole's head was at as well as stupidly telling her about who's targeting her, who was Jozea. To confirm this Mama Day had a conversation with Jozea, which confirmed that Nicole was on top of his list to get out of the house. With this information Mama Day went to Nicole to let her know about this information. This then solidified for Nicole that Jozea should be her target. Nicole then needed to find a pawn that would fight for the Power of Veto (POV) to make sure Jozea doesn't win it. Paulie was someone who she first thought in mind and wanted to make sure he would be on board. A bit apprehensive with being nominated, is being assured by the veterans he would be safe. So at the nomination ceremony it was revealed that Jozea and Paulie were both nominated. No surprise with Jozea's nomination because those with a loud mouth would be nominated, while Paulie was the pawn but know if he gets evicted his brother wouldn't let him live it down.
Prediction for POV
With Jozea and Paulie up for eviction, we will see who wants to stay safe the most. I predict another veteran to be chosen for the POV and win the nomination. However there is a third competition that will be announced that may or may not change the nomination. So it will be interesting to find out what this next competition may be and what affect it will have on the game. If the POV is used, I really hope another loud mouth newbie like Paul is nominated for eviction. Tune in on Sunday on CBS Detroit at 8pm to see who wins the POV and who the replacement nominee may or may not be.
