Bicyclist Killed By Suspected Drunk Driver
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police say a 45-year-old man who was riding his bike was killed after being struck by a suspected drunk driver.
The accident happened Wednesday night near Fenkell and Freeland streets on the city's west side.
The bicyclist was apparently trying to cross the road when he was struck by a mini-van. The victim, whose name was not immediately released, died at the scene.
Police say the 67-year-old driver of the mini-van, who stayed at the scene after the crash, had a blood alcohol level more than twice Michigan's legal limit of .08. That man remains in police custody.
