Hot summer days call for places to cool down. If you're looking for places to get wet and wild, check out these waterparks and splash pads in and around the Greater Detroit Area that offer plenty of fun super soaker options to help you beat the summer heat.

This outdoor aquatic center serves up lots of fun attractions including two 23-foot water slides. One is a body slide and the other is a tube slide in which you'll reach speeds close to 15 m.p.h. There's a neat splash pad featuring over 100 spray fountains and a 15,920-square foot "Way Cool, Wave Pool." Park capacity is just over 2,000 people and it's the largest family waterpark in Wayne County, nestled on 22,000 square feet of intricately landscaped property.

Lake St. Clair Metropark boasts the best of both water worlds. There's a 1,600-foot boardwalk overlooking the one-mile shoreline and sandy beach on beautiful Lake St. Clair. Boat ramps and marinas allow access to the lake for kiteboarding, boating and swimming. Or, if you'd rather lounge by the pool you can hang out or swim in the Olympic-sized pool with waterslides and the Squirt Zone Spray Ground. There's no better place to be on a sizzling summer day!

This outdoor waterpark features a wave-action pool, Triple-flume waterslide, Children's water playground with 68 features, toddler-friendly water play area, and a 990-foot moving river, among other attractions. There are waterslides, a picnic area, a pavilion and on-duty lifeguards. Oakland County resident discount rates are available. Weekend and holiday rates are $20 and Weekday (M-F) rates are $17.

At 50,000 square feet, Zehnder's Splash Village proudly bears the distinction of being Michigan's largest indoor waterpark. A little less than a two-hour drive from Detroit, Zehnder's has all kinds of exciting attractions to keep the family cool and entertained for hours. This award-winning, family-friendly outdoor waterpark is celebrating its 25th season in Troy. The park features a main pool with a zero-depth edge, tube and body slides, a kiddie slide and splash pad and a kiddie area complete with a waterfall. There's also a sand volleyball area, sand play area and a park concession stand.
