One of the most enjoyable Irish fests happens in Clare. Beginning during the week after business hours, the Clare Irish Festival will be home to the Big Sisters Big Sisters Annual Art Auction Fundraiser held at The Doherty Hotel (March 16 at 5 p.m.) kicking off the week's events. The fest is fun for the whole family, featuring the Irish Recipe Contest, the Children's Carnival along with a karaoke contest and a craft show. The event is also hosting a 5k/10k run and a parade. In its 41st year, the Clare Irish Festival also will hold a Leprechaun contest. Check the official website for event dates and times as well as locations.

The Highland Celtic Festival 2016 will be held Saturday, March 12 prior to St. Patrick's Day as a charitable event. If interested, the night begins with a Roman Catholic mass at 5:30 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit. The festival following will feature entertainment such as the Michigan Irish Dance Academy and Michigan Scottish Pipe and Drums. For food, the Highland Celtic Festival will offer a Celtic menu ticket for $10 along with additional beverage. Drinks include Guinness Draught and Miller Light green beer and admittance is for 21 years of age and older only. Tickets need to be purchased in advance.

Traveling north to Flint, the Flint St. Patrick's Day Celebration will begin at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael's Church in downtown. Mass of St. Patrick will begin at 12:02 p.m., following with the Irish Family Walk to MacFarlan Park. The party starts at 1:30 p.m. at Catholic Charities, which is next to the St. Michael's Church. There, a $10 buffet will be served along with Irish dancing through 6 p.m. At 5:30 p.m., however, the 36th Annual St. Patrick's Day Pot O' Gold race begins to prepare for the 6 p.m. event. The race is a four-mile run/walk with 1/4 of a mile for children taking place at 5:30 p.m. Registration details and entry fees can be found on the Pot O' Gold Run website. Each person who finishes will receive a medal.

Promoting their latest album "Matching Sweaters," released last year, Gaelic Storm are bringing their Celtic and Celtic Rock music to the St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit. The group gained popularity after appearing as the steerage band in 1997's "Titanic," playing "An Irish Party in Third Class." Along with Celtic music, they bring energy to traditional Irish music, as well as their own original tracks. Tickets for the show are $20 and are general admission.

Out on their Destiny Tour, the group Celtic Woman will arrive just in time for St. Patrick's Day at Fox Theatre with ticket prices ranging from $48.50 to $108.50. In all, the group consisting of the women has released 16 albums across the world including compilations over the span of 10 years. The lineup for this tour includes Susan McFadden, Mairead Nesbitt, Mairead Carlin and the newest member of Celtic Woman, Éabha McMahon. The extensive tour runs through Europe and the U.S. from Feb. 2016 to July 2016.
