Orange Peel is a family-run restaurant located at 22 Mile and Schoenherr, in Shelby Township, and it's open until 3 p.m. each day for breakfast/brunch and lunch. Its omelette menu is extensive, and ranges from the interesting (gyro and feta omelette) to the elaborate (Coney Dog omelette). Portions are large and if you're not a big eater, you might just have to bring some of your meal home. There's usually a line for Orange Peel (and a small vestibule in which to wait for a table) so try to get to the restaurant early to avoid crowds.

The Hudson Cafe can be found on Woodward between Grand River and Gratiot, in downtown Detroit, and is renowned for its breakfast menu; its egg dishes are no exception. Choose from the egg specialties menu, the I'm Benedicted or the omelettes; all omelettes include three eggs, toast and your choice of potatoes (made in-house), fresh fruit or grits with cheese. Check out the Chicken Pomodoro omelette (chicken, tomato, onion, basil, mozzarella and parmesan), the seafood (crab and shrimp, with hollandaise sauce) or the Baja Cali (tomato, onion, ham, bacon, guacamole and swiss cheese).

If you take a quick detour off Main St. in Ann Arbor, you'll find Cafe Zola, nestled on Washington St. right before Ashley St. Zola has amazing crepes, but its omelettes menu is quite impressive as well; dishes aren't inexpensive (prices range from $9.95 to $16.95) but its quality is sure to impress. Try the Omelette Provençale (open-faced egg, caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, scallions, fresh garlic) or perhaps the Omelette Duxelles (sauteed mushrooms, onions, shallots, porcini mushroom sauce, creme fraiche). If you're more of a meat eater, check out the Southwestern Omelette (chorizo, roasted poblano chiles, sour cream, pico de gallo, spicy green chile sauce, creme fraiche) or the Smoke Salmon Omelette. Zola also has a nice outdoor seating area once the weather warms up in the spring/summertime.
