Bernero Agrees To Three Debates
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero has agreed to at least three debates with Republican Rick Snyder, but he'd like even more.
The Snyder camp has yet to sign off on the proposal to hold debates September 21st in Grand Rapids, October 7th in Lansing and October 21st at the Channel 7 studios in Southfield. WWJ Newsradio 950 plans to air the October debates if they take place.
Bernero initially challenged Snyder to eight debates in advance of the November 3rd election.
A statement from the Lansing mayor's camp says Bernero wants to work with Snyder to hold more than three face-to-face sessions.
Analysts say it's not surprising Bernero wants more debates because he trails by double digits in the latest poll.
