Bernard Kilpatrick Threatened With Contempt
The father of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick could find himself in contempt of court if he doesn't appear for a deposition in a civil suit against his son and the city filed by the family of a slain stripper.
The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press report Tuesday that U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen has given Bernard Kilpatrick until Aug. 31 to arrange or appear for the deposition by attorney Norman Yatooma.
Bernard Kilpatrick missed a scheduled deposition last week.
Yatooma represents Tamara Greene's three children. Greene was fatally shot in 2003, several months after reportedly performing at a rumored wild party at the Detroit mayoral mansion.
The lawsuit claims Kwame Kilpatrick and other city officials stifled a police investigation of her death.
