Benefit For Barber Sidelined By Rare Form Of Cancer
BIRMINGHAM (WWJ) - Dave Ritter opened his Barber Shop, "Dave's" four years ago on Old Woodward in downtown Birmingham.
The father of two young boys had scrimped and saved for years in an effort to open the shop.
The store thrived in the very competitive retail market of Birmingham.
Trouble came into Dave's life two years ago when he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of bladder cancer.
Since then the shop has had to close several times while Dave received life saving treatments, including a visit to Sloan Kettering in New York City.
Dave's wife Michelle says the family's savings are nearly depleted and she's humbled by the out pouring of love and support from Dave's customers, Birmingham Business owners, friends and family.
Friends will hold a benefit for Dave on Sunday March 13th at the FOE Hall on M59, in Waterford.
