Beaumont Hospitals to Join Michigan Health Connect
Grand Rapids-based Michigan Health Connect announced that Beaumont Hospitals based in Royal Oak has decided to join MHC's growing statewide health information exchange.
In addition to using MHC's HIE Command Center platform being developed to connect and integrate Michigan's diverse healthcare environment, it will also serve as another key member of the nonprofit corporation's board of directors.
"Michigan Health Connect and their technology partner Medicity will provide Beaumont the broadest connectivity solution for our physicians and our patients," said Subra Sripada, senior vice president and CIO at Beaumont Hospitals. "We look forward to participating with MHC and helping to position Michigan as one of the most connected health care regions in the country."
The addition of Beaumont Hospitals adds an important voice in the southeast Michigan healthcare environment and further integrates the health information exchange experience for thousands of providers based on Beaumont's decision to collaborate with the other hospitals and health systems in that region who are also partnered with MHC.
Ananias Diokno, M.D., executive vice president & chief medical officer for Beaumont Hospitals, added: "Beaumont recognizes that the integration of electronic health care records across our health system and with our physicians will enhance patient care. Our participation in MHC is an important milestone in our continued efforts to use technology for the benefit of our patients."
Now composed of 46 affiliated hospitals, MHC is developing a strong clinical messaging exchange having connected over 600 provider offices with a combination of electronic results delivery, laboratory ordering, radiology ordering, and referrals either directly from the provider's EMR system or the Medicity tools on which the HIE platform is based. These exchange tools are available to providers at no cost as a result of the support and investment of the participating member organizations.
