Thousands, Including Beaumont Hospital, Lose Power
STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - About 5,000 people lost power Monday in southeast Michigan due to storms. DTE reportes that the outages are concentrated in Wayne and Oakland counties.
The outages are being blamed on lightening, heavy rains and wind.
It's affecting some patients at Beaumont Hospital where outpatient services were closed at the Sterling Heights location across from the Troy hospital. The after-hours flu clinic were cancelled, but the Beaumont dialysis center remains open.
The hospital is operating on a generator.
DTE hopes to have all the power restored by sometime Tuesday.
