Beantown Scribe Thinks LeBron Isn't MVP
By: Mike Stone
As expected, LeBron James was the runaway winner of the NBA MVP award. What was unexpected was that the award was not unanimous. One voter decided that Carmelo Anthony deserved the award over James.
That voter surprisingly was not from New York, but rather Boston. Gary Washburn who covers the Celtics and the NBA for the Boston Globe is the culprit. I will give Washburn credit. He did not have to reveal his vote, so his transparency is commendable, but his decision is ludicrous.
Washburn's rationale is that the Knicks without Anthony would not be a playoff team, while the Heat would still be real good without James. He is correct, but if that was the logic for not voting for LeBron, I would have rather the vote gone to Kevin Durant.
By the way, the Knicks were 7-8 in the 15 games Anthony did not play. That is not good, but not horrific. Here is Washburn's column and decide if he has a point.
