Battle Creek Man Charged With Killing Child In '07
BATTLE CREEK (AP) - A Battle Creek man has been charged with killing a 4-year-old boy, five years after the case against him was dismissed.
Adam Markos was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Calhoun County jail.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports the 30-year-old Markos is to be arraigned Wednesday on charges of open murder and felony child abuse in the 2007 death of 4-year-old Dominic Munoz.
Prosecutor David Gilbert says his office gave the case another look and decided to bring charges. Gilbert says he doesn't "know why they dismissed it the last time."
Dominic died from head injuries police said occurred a week earlier. He was the son of Markos' girlfriend.
J. Thomas Schaeffer, the defense attorney at the time, says he has "no clue" why charges were brought against Markos.
