BACK TO SEA LEVEL

ROB SANFORD

With the comeback win on Sunday.. the Tigers record is now an even 71-71. Over the past 20 games or so, the Bengals have been playing pretty decent baseball. One thing I find most hopeful has been the play of Don Kelly, Will Rhymes, Brennan Boesch and others that have been called up from Toledo. It appears there is still some talent in the Tiger minor league system.

Speaking of a young player producing.....Austin Jackson has now scored 25 runs in his last 23 games to add to his season total of 94. The last Tiger rookie with that many was Jake Wood when he scored 96 runs in 1961. By the way, the team record is 120 runs....scored by Barney McCosky in 1939.

The starting pitching for Detroit has been on fire at home, recording 13 of the last 15 games qualifying for a quality start. Over that stretch the starters have a 10-2 record with an ERA of 2.12. Speaking of pitching....here's a question and answer to amaze your friends. Which pitcher has won the most  games since the start of the 2006 seasons in the American League??? It's  Justin Verlander..with 81 victories. He is also second in strikeouts at 918 and third with 1,020 innnings pitched.
