Awards and Certifications From November 22

Powermat Wins Popular Science Award: Commerce Township-based wireless charging technology developer Powermat Monday announced that it has been awarded a Popular Science's Best of What's New Award for 2010. For the last 23 years, Popular Science has awarded the Best of What's New Awards to the top 100 industry innovators whose inventions indicate where technology is headed in the future. Powermat has just introduced its second generation of products into the marketplace. These products support today's most popular smartphones with thin, sleek, and form-fitting receivers, as well as an array of power-on-the-go products that lets consumers charge their devices even when there is no outlet in sight. Powermat's Gen 2 line, available just one year after the company's launch and category-pioneering success, is now available in more than 18,000 retail locations across the US and Canada. These new systems incorporate Powermat's wireless charging technology directly into back doors specific to each device, closely mimicking the manufacturers' original design in construction, detail and texture. Consumers need only pop on the receiver once, then simply drop and charge, with no more plugging and unplugging.  Powermat has also introduced the next phase in the evolution of wireless charging with its new power-on-the-go series. The on-the-go solutions include the Powermat Portable 2x Rechargeable Mat, the fulfillment of the ultimate promise of wireless power delivery with fast and efficient wireless charging even when there are absolutely no outlets in sight. It provides up to four full charges for most smartphones and more for many other popular electronics. Powermat's new Power Dual 1850 and 1200 rechargeable back-up batteries incorporate both an Apple and Micro USB connector. This all-in-one solution can charge up to two devices simultaneously, including power-hungry smartphones, all Apple devices, Bluetooth headsets, MiFi cards, and much more. Powermat is currently available in stores nationwide. The product line includes mats capable of charging one, two or three devices at once, and receivers for such devices as the iPhone, BlackBerry, HTC EVO 4G, iPod Touch, Nintendo DSi and DS Lite, as well as hundreds of others with the use of the universal Powercube.
