Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes Awarded Peak Performance Team Award: The Grand Rapids-based Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes (JAMGL) today announced that it has been awarded the 2013 Peak Performance Team Award (PPTA) by Junior Achievement USA. The PPTA is an annual distinction that recognizes outstanding performance by a local Junior Achievement office team. JA USA presents this award to four mid-market operations each year, and this marks the fourth JA Peak performance award that JAMGL has received since the award's inception. To qualify for the award, a JA office must demonstrate strong financial position and show positive student growth during the school year. Recipients receiving the PPTA have achieved the highest combined level of student growth, increased market share and total revenue growth. In 2012, JAMGL significantly extended the organization's classroom presence. More than 1,500 volunteers reached nearly 60,000 students -- a 6.7 percent increase over the previous year -- and served more than 2,300 classrooms across Michigan. Junior Achievement of the Michigan Great Lakes is among the nation's top-19 largest JA chapters and an area office of JA Worldwide, the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Rave Computer is 2013 Mentor Advocate for Women in Defense - Michigan: The Women In Defense Michigan chapter (WID MI) announced Sterling Heights-based Rave Computer as the 2013 Mentor Advocate. As the Advocate for the year, Rave will be present to support the first GRID Professional Development Series event on Tuesday, Feb. 12. Featuring Rock Marcone, Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.), Director of General Dynamics Land Systems Maneuver Collaboration Center (mc2), and Monica Emerson, Ret. Navy Diversity Officer, U.S. Department of the Navy, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, this installment of the GRID Professional Development Series is an interactive event where audience participation is expected. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to ask these two respected industry veterans questions and get relevant advice, feedback and suggestions to support their professional development. The GRID Mentorship program is designed not only to assist WID members wishing to take advantage of the wisdom and experience of a mentor, but also to offer mentor volunteers an opportunity to pass on a legacy that will influence the next generation of defense community members.
