Three Named to Verizon Wireless' Prestigious President's Cabinet: Verizon Wireless has named Steven Ray, Marc Garrett, and Jonathon Khamarko to the company's prestigious President's Cabinet. The honor is reserved for those ranking in the top 1 percent nationally in sales during 2012, placing them as top performers from among the company's more than 25,000 sales people nationwide. Steven Ray is a business account executive in metro Detroit. Marc Garrett is a retail sales representative in Farmington Hills. Jonathon Khamarko is a retail sales representative in Clinton Township. He was named to the company's President's Cabinet in 2011 as well. They earned the distinction by demonstrating exceptional sales leadership and delivering an outstanding customer experience.

Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Manager Receives Michigan Pharmacists Association Awards: Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, the nation's largest privately held specialty pharmacy company servicing the needs 24of patients and physicians nationwide, announced that Michael Crowe, clinical technology manager at Diplomat, is a recipient of the Fellow of Michigan Pharmacists Association award. The award was announced during the MPA's Annual Convention & Exposition, held Feb. 22-24 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. At Diplomat, Crowe is responsible for leading the clinical development of Diplomat's proprietary software, eNAV, and other clinical programs. He also researches, reviews and analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency of existing clinical requirements and develops strategies for enhancing/leveraging these processes. Crowe also directs and supervises company projects and provides day-to-day input and support for execution of the work performed by IT. Crowe holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ferris State University and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan-Flint. He has been a member of MPA for nine years and serves on the Board of Directors of the Pharmacy Political Action Committee. He is also a member of the Ferris State University College of Pharmacy Alumni Board. Crowe also received a second honor at the MPA convention, the Pharmacy Hank Fuhs Good Government Award. He was instrumental in reinstating the Genesee County Pharmacists Association as an active local association in 2012 and now serves as its chairman. Since the group was restored, he has spearheaded many functions, including several legislative events that encourage area pharmacists to meet with their elected officials and discuss issues of importance to their practice. Genesee County Pharmacists Association also co-hosted an evening reception to support Senator Roger Kahn, M.D., and the Chapter is a past recipient of the Local Association Achievement Award from the MPA. MPA advances the profession of pharmacy and patient care on behalf of the 14,000 pharmacists and 15,000 pharmacy technicians in the state. Pharmacy PAC is the advocacy arm of the MPA. MTEC SmartZone Earns Keweenaw Spark Plug Award for 'Growth': MTEC SmartZone, a high-tech business incubator in Houghton, Michigan, contributed significantly to the economic vibrancy of the local business community in 2012, creating over 50 jobs. For that reason, they received a Keweenaw Spark Plug Award for "Growth." Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce, Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance, and co-host MTEC SmartZone, sponsored the annual Keweenaw Spark Plug Awards to recognize area businesses for extraordinary successes in 2012. Businesses were nominated by Chamber and KEDA members. KEDA board member Dave Olsson presented MTEC SmartZone CEO Marilyn Clark with the growth award, calling MTEC SmartZone "a fuse of energy for this community." She shared her inspirational story about her life growing up on a dairy farm in Chassell. Her father, a "necessity entrepreneur," relied heavily on data and numbers to make a successful living for their family. MTEC SmartZone created a total of 52 jobs in 2012 and attracted Fortune 500 companies Dematic and Controltec, who opened remote offices in Houghton. Among other key accomplishments, MTEC SmartZone created an Entrepreneurial Training Center, with over six active companies whose founders are learning how to take a business concept and bring it to market.
