Automotive Testing Expo To Feature Jet Powered VW
There's at least one very cool reason to attend the Automotive Testing Expo next week at the Rock Financial Showplace: a jet-powered VW Beetle that makes 1,350 hp at 26,000 RPM.
The vehicle is being brought in by Measurement Instruments, a Pennsylvania-based company with offices in Farmington Hills, which will also be introducing several new products designed for increased performance and accuracy in measuring electrical and heat output in various systems of an automobile.
Included is the new ECM FastTemp Fast Response Thermocouple Module, which outputs ultra-high bandwidth temperature measurements using standard K-Type thermocouple probes.
Other new product innovations to be unveiled at the show include:
* CSM High-Speed, Thermo-Scan MiniModules: Designed to address the extreme environmental conditions and complex measurement demands of automotive measurement technology. Compact module family was developed for use inside the engine compartment.
* ECM Power Supply Ripple Generator: Designed to go between a DC power supply and a device under test. The Ripple Generator modifies the voltage seen by the DUT by adding voltage waveforms of programming type, magnitude and frequency to the basic power supply output. Thus, sensitivity of DUT to power supply noise can be studied.
* Yokagawa DL850 ScopeCorder: Modular, waveform recording instruments that can measure voltage, current, acceleration and other phenomena simultaneously.
