Automation Alley Announces Domestic Trade Mission to Florida
Troy-based Automation Alley, Michigan's largest technology business association, announced that it will host its first-ever domestic trade mission to Orlando, Fla. Attendees will participate in the bi-annual 27th Army Science Conference and Exhibition from Nov. 30 to Dec. 2.
"This event holds valuable potential for companies that are interested in future military procurement opportunities and for companies that are looking to supply to the defense industry," said Ken Rogers, executive director of Automation Alley. "Our first domestic trade mission will provide companies ample opportunity to showcase their expertise in front of the defense industry's top technological leaders and buyers."
This year's conference theme, "Transformational Science and Technology -- Enabling Full Spectrum Operations," will focus on force protection and providing mission-critical support to soldiers engaged in both symmetric and asymmetric warfare conditions. The conference is sponsored by the Assistant Secretary of the Army for acquisition, logistics and technology. Attendance is expected at more than 1,500 participants from 24 nations worldwide.
Automation Alley will have a pavilion that member companies can exhibit under on a cost-share basis. The cost to participate is approximately $1,995 (including exhibit space, conference fee, hotel and airfare). Participation is limited to eight companies. The deadline to register is Friday, Oct. 1.
Industries sought for participation in the trip include advanced high performance computing in physical sciences and engineering, advanced materials and manufacturing technology, autonomous and unmanned systems, behavioral sciences and human performance, biomedical technologies, biotechnology, environmental and engineering geosciences, force protection and survivability, information technology in command and contro, communications, computers and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaisance, lethality technologies, microelectronics and photonics technologies, nanotechnology, network science, neuroscience, physical and engineering processes, power and energy, sensors and information processing and training and immersive technology.
"Domestic trade shows offer a cost-effective alternative to international trade missions," Rogers said. "Companies can showcase their products, services and technologies to buyers and end-users in the world's wealthiest market, the United States. With the sense of urgency to go global today, many companies overlook opportunities to do business in with American companies located in their own backyard."
Previous Automation Alley trade missions have resulted in the creation of more than 730 jobs and $151 million in new contracts and sales for participating companies. In addition, Automation Alley was awarded the Presidential "E" Award for Exporting, the highest honor the federal government can give to an American exporting company or organization for its successful trade mission program.
