Autism-Friendly 'Sesame Street Live' Performance is Coming to The Fox Theatre
CBS 62 is excited to be partnering with Olympia Entertainment and Autism Alliance of Michigan to bring local families an autism-friendly 'Sesame Street Live' performance of "Let's Dance!" at the Fox Theatre. Accommodations will make the theater experience more enjoyable for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other sensory difficulties.
Hosted by two live performers, 'Sesame Street Live' "Let's Dance!" offers an up-close, interactive experience like you've never experienced before! You, the audience, are invited to dance as all of your favorite Sesame Street friends join you on the floor – dancing with fans of all ages! In addition to ongoing dance parties, Elmo uses his imagination to "Do the Robot," Cookie Monster teaches all 'feets' to dance, and Ernie shares the fun of dance with the Sesame Street favorite "Shake Your Head One Time."
Autism-Friendly Performances will include:
- Extra spacing will be incorporated in some seating areas to allow for more room to move around
- Show "production notes" will be available to parents so you and your child can anticipate special noises and effect
- Quiet areas will be set up inside the venue to allow families to take a break for a few minutes
- Gluten-free concession food options will also be made available
NOTE: "Autism-Friendly" performances do not alter the shows themselves, but rather, make the environment "autism-friendly" – and more enjoyable for those with special needs.
