Authorities: Worker Dies After Truck Crashes Into Road Crew

CLAM LAKE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP/WWJ) - Authorities say a worker has died after a truck crashed into a road crew in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula.

The crash happened shortly before 5 p.m. Monday in Wexford County's Clam Lake Township as the crew was performing maintenance on an exit ramp from U.S. highway 131 to M-115.

The Cadillac News reports one worker, identified as 45-year-old Sean Jordan of Holly, died at the scene. Another worker, a Troy man, was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital for treatment.

According to MLive.com, 42-year-old Grand Rapids truck driver — who was exiting the highway when the crash occurred —suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment. He was arrested for reckless driving causing death.

His name has not been released pending formal charges.

The crew had posted signs warning drivers of the road work, authorities said.

The injured Troy man was listed in good condition on Tuesday.

The crash remains under investigation.
