Authorities: Shelby Township Man Stabbed Himself, Said His Wife Did It
ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - A Macomb County man is behind bars after allegedly lying about a stabbing incident in Rochester Hills.
Oakland County Sheriff's deputies were called to a parking lot on Orion Road, Monday evening, on reports that the man had been stabbed by his wife.
The male was treated and medically cleared by paramedics with the Rochester Hills Fire Department.
The couple was brought in for questioning, sheriff's officials said, and further investigation revealed that the 40-year-old Shelby Township man had actually stabbed himself "with some type of instrument," and then attempted to stab his 28-year-old wife.
The woman was not injured.
The man, whose name has not been released, is being lodge at the Oakland County Jail pending charged of felonious assault and filing a false police report.
Deputies aren't saying exactly what the couple may have been arguing about, but did say that two were "conducting an exchange of children's clothing" when the alleged assault occurred.
An investigation is ongoing.
