2nd 'Suspicious Package' Of The Day In Downtown Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police investigated reports of another suspicious package in downtown Detroit.

Fire crews and other law enforcement agencies were at the scene, at Congress and Randolph, at 3:30 p.m. People who work in the area were being kept away.

It didn't take long before police discovered the item to be personal property that had been left behind due to a wheel malfunction. The owner of the suitcase, Terrell Blue, claimed the case and repacked the contents.

This incident came mere hours after emergency crews were called to investigate a suspicious package that was found at the McNamara Federal Building. After using a x-ray to see inside the bag, officials said a water cannon was used to "blow the bag open." They said nothing of a threatening nature was found. (More here).

Two weeks ago, Wayne County Sheriff's deputies were called to Woodward Ave. near Warren, in the Midtown cultural district, on a report that someone had placed a "suspicious package" in a dumpster. Several buildings were evacuated. A K-9 unit did not find any type of explosive device.
