Authorities ID 3-Year-Old Girl Killed In Detroit Crash
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Authorities have identified a 3-year-old girl who died after a car that was reportedly speeding crashed into a parked vehicle in Detroit.
Samyrah Leonard died from multiple blunt force injuries after the Sunday crash on Wildemere, near Thatcher and McNichols on the city's west side.
According to Detroit police, a speeding car hit the victims' parked vehicle and then struck a tree around 1:40 p.m. Police say witnesses statements indicate that the car was going 70 miles an hour before it crashed, although the car's actual speed has not been determined.
Several others were also injured in the crash, including a 9-month-old boy, an 11-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl. All were taken to hospitals for treatment. A 21-year-old and 19-year-old also were injured.
The crash is under investigation.
