Authorities Destroy Massive Plots Of Pot
ROSCOMMON (WWJ/AP) - Up in smoke: There was a big pot bust up north and as WWJ's Paul Snider reports, police set fire to what they confiscated.
Authorities in the north-central Lower Peninsula made quite a haul, busting up a massive marijuana-growing operation in several remote areas that included a camp site, shrine and warning signs carved into a tree.
Local and state investigators got a tip about the operation in Roscommon County and found about 3,000 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of at least $3 million.
The growers were not there at the time of the Friday raid, but Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team Lt. Jeff Anthony said he believes the people involved are "dangerous and mean business."
