Authorities: 7-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Struck By SUV
FRANKENLUST TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 7-year-old girl has died after being struck by an SUV in Bay County.
Kristin Knoll, spokeswoman for Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw, tells The Bay City Times that Abigail G. Schaefer of Auburn died on Sunday.
The Midland Daily News reports she had been hospitalized after being struck on Friday night in Frankenlust Township, about 90 miles northwest of Detroit.
According to investigators, Abigail ran into the road and was hit by the SUV that was driven by a 61-year-old man. WSGW-AM reports she had just left a basketball game at a church gym. Investigators say the driver was unable to avoid hitting her.
The case is under investigation.
