Audit: No Money Missing At Bank
An audit on finances at Community Central Bank, where a bank executive was last seen alive in September, shows no missing money. The audit was conducted after the body of David Widlak was found in Lake St. Clair. He died from a gunshot to the base of the skull.
Community Central Bank says the audit did not any identify any unauthorized or problematic transactions or any circumvention of internal controls by Widlak.
The Detroit News reports that state and federal regulators have ordered the struggling bank to take some corrective steps including more board oversight, improving capital ratios and conducting an independent study of management.
It took two autopsies to determine that Widlak was shot in the back of the skull. The Macomb County Sheriff's Department is investigating the death which has not been determined to be a murder or suicide.
Widlak disappeared after spending time at the bank in September. Video cameras from the surrounding area show he walked out of the bank, but his office was found in disarray and his car was still in the bank's parking lot.
