Armed Robbers Hold Up Ferndale Pharmacy

FERNDALE (WWJ) - Ferndale Police are investigating  a brazen hold up at a local pharmacy. Two armed gunmen held up several shoppers at the Ferndale Pharmacy on Nine mile shortly after 7 p.m. Monday.

One of the victims dialed 911 and left the phone line open for police to hear the entire crime unfold. Police arrived at the building and were outside when the robbers tried to get away. Police say victims were "tormented at gunpoint," tied up and pistol whipped. One shot was fired, and a victim received a minor injury from bullet fragments.

The two robbers and a getaway driver were all apprehended. Police said one of the three suspects is currently on parole with a criminal past that includes a conviction for second degree murder.

Charges were expect to be filed sometime this week.
