Area Big Boy Helps Out With Hurricane Sandy Relief
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - An area Big Boy restaurant is pitching in to help people along the East Coast get back to normalcy following Hurricane Sandy.
Throughout this week, the Big Boy on Zeeb Road in Ann Arbor will donate 10 percent of its sales to the Red Cross.
Owner Abdoul Karkoukli hopes to raise about $10,000 for the cause.
"I know it is not a big amount but I think if we can settle like that, maybe we can encourage a lot of the business people, a lot of the people, can do such a thing like this," Karkoukli said. "When we see stuff like that, it could happen to anyone. (It) doesn't matter whether in New York, East Coast or any of the West Coast. It could happen in Michigan somewhere. So, I mean, we need to contribute a little bit and I think my customers are very good (and) very generous in these issues."
The Big Boy will also accept non-perishable food and monetary donations.
