Arab Museum Director Speaking In 3 Japanese Cities
DEARBORN (AP) - The director of the Arab American National Museum in Michigan will speak in Japan about the history of Arabs and Muslims in America and the effects of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks during the past decade.
Anan Ameri says she leaves Saturday on the 10-day trip and stops include Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. She was invited by the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo.
Ameri says she will share her experiences as well as those of other U.S. Arabs and Muslims. She'll also talk about how Muslims have been in the U.S. since the slavery era and the extent to which they have become integrated into American culture.
The museum is based in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn, home to one of the largest Arab-Muslim populations outside the Middle East.
