Arab American News Editor Marianna Kay Siblani Dies
DEARBORN (WWJ) - Marianna Kay Siblani, the executive editor of The Arab American News, has died following a long battle with breast cancer.
Siblani, who family members say battled Stage 4 breast cancer for the last two years, died on Tuesday, Jan 1. She was 64-years-old.
Siblani had been with the Dearborn-based newspaper for 28 years. During her time at The Arab American News, Siblani was a powerful voice and an advocate for Arab and Muslim Americans on local and national issues.
Siblani stood by the newspaper and braved financial hardship, along with long working hours. She worked hard with a steadfast and complete dedication to the Arab cause even though she didn't have a drop of Arab blood in her veins.
Family members say Siblani never quit despite her numerous medical setbacks, and she was always there for her family, friends, colleagues, The Arab American News and the people it serves in both good and hard times.
Siblani is survived by her mother Anna Leota Kendall, her daughter Michelle, her brothers Kenny and Keith, her sister Cathy, and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Verheyden Funeral Home, location at 28499 Schoenherr Road in Warren, on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 2 to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 6 from 1 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the same location on Monday, Jan. 7 at 8 a.m.
