Apple Watch Details Expected To Be Released Today

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - The eyes of the tech world will be on San Francisco today when Apple holds a media event where it is expected to release details about its Apple Watch.
The smartwatch was first revealed in September, with rumors swirling ever since about the exact abilities and features of the tech company's first entry into the wearable market.
"We've seen the Apple Watch but we don't know as much as we'd like," said Scott Stein, CNET Senior Editor. "There are a lot of details that are still cloaked in mystery."
Stein added that this has been one of the rare times when Apple reveals what is coming so far in advance.
What is known, is that the Apple Watch will start at $349 and is expected to give users access to services and information including calendar, maps, music, notifications and Apple Pay.
"If they can work with existing apps, I think that would be a real exciting part of it and would make it feel more useful," Stein said. "That could be the magic feature of the watch."
In addition to the Apple Watch, the company is expected use the event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater to unveil other products and enhancements.
These could include Mac related announcements, something new with Apple TV and Apple Watch apps and accessories.
As Apple looks to unveil its wearable, smartwatch maker developer Pebble took to Kickstarter to unveil its new model, Pebble Time, which features a new timeline interface, new color e-paper display and microphone for responding to notifications. It also offers up to seven days of battery life and is water resistant.
It is available for $179 and is estimated to start delivery in May.
WWJ Newsradio 950 and CBS Detroit will provide Apple updates throughout the day.
