Apartment Fire In Plymouth
PLYMOUTH (WWJ) - A big apartment fire Thursday morning in Plymouth brings out several departments to battle the blaze that has left several people homeless.
WWJ's Ron Dewey reports that fire crews have been battling the blaze since 2:30am Thursday at the Park Manor Apartments on Plymouth Road between Lilly and Haggerty Rd.
Police got everyone out of their apartments, but one person was hurt and taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
Plymouth City Manager Paul Sincock says the 24-unit complex is a total loss. The complex was built back in the 1950's and was not up to code.
Fire officials say the fire was under control at 7 p.m., but the frigid temps have wreaked havoc on firefighters' efforts. Firefighters have been slipping and falling on the ice that has formed because of the cold temperatures and water. Hoses are freezing as well.
Officials say it's too early to determine the cause of the fire.
The Salvation Army is on site to help out the displaced residents.
