Ann Arbor's Meadowlark To Show Off Green Home
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- The Ann Arbor green design, building and remodeling company Meadowlark Builders will conduct tours of a resource-efficient home in Ann Arbor Nov. 16 and 17 in the latest installment of its "Behind The Drywall" home tour series.
The home, at 2201 Lafayette Road, has been dubbed "Built To Last" -- because, Meadowlark said, the homeowners were uncomfortable with traditional wood construction and wanted a more solid structure.
So, the home's outside walls are made of Durisol Insulated Concrete Forms -- which act as structure, insulation and thermal mass, making the home very energy-efficient, very quiet inside, and very low maintenance.
Durisol ICF's do not rot or decay, are vermin, termite and insect proof, and will not support fungus growth.
