Ann Arbor Tour Guides Assist With Earthquake Relief Efforts In Nepal
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - With Nepal in desperate need of help after the massive earthquake over the weekend, a local organization is helping with relief efforts.
Journeys International in Ann Arbor — which usually leads tours in Nepal — is now collecting donations to help the country's earthquake survivors — and they've also made their camping equipment available to those who need it.
"Our staff over there have changed from leading comfortable trekking tours to serving as emergency aid workers, bringing supplies, water, food into some of the more difficult to each villages," said Journeys International Senior Director Will Weber.
Weber said they've collected over $4,000 through their non-profit "The Earth Preservation Fund" since the 7.8 magnitude quake devastated Nepal on Saturday, affecting millions and killing thousands.

Weber said they've also made their camping equipment available to the people in Nepal.
"We do camping treks, so we have tents and stoves and those kinds of supplies," said he. "And there's such a desperate need for housing for the people that have been displaced, all of our equipment is now being used for that purpose."
