Angel's Night Patrols Set To Begin In Detroit
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit's Angels' Night enforcement doesn't officially get underway until this weekend, but some volunteers are already making sure their corner of the city is safe.
Some residents on Detroit's north end called police after catching two men inside of a vacant house and WWJ was right there to see the neighborhood patrol in action.
Jolanda Carson, who's part of group that plans to keep watch over 20 blocks in the north end community, ran the two men off.
"I was coming out of my house...and right across the street I seen two gentlemen throwing out the radiators. So by the time I got over there they were already down the street, and I'm trying to call the police or do something or just stand watch because that's what we do, we're safety patrol at this neighborhood, on this block," said Carson.
Meanwhile, the City of Detroit is enforcing its emergency curfew and gas container ordinances during the Halloween period.
Minors, under the age of 18, are not allowed out of their residence unsupervised from Sunday, October 30 at 6pm through Monday, October 31 at 6am.
Also, people are prohibited from dispensing fuel into a portable container or carrying fuel or any other flammable liquid inside city limits from midnight October 27 through October 31 at 11:59pm.
