An Invitation To Write A Letter To The First Lady
DETROIT (WWJ) - Do you have something nice to say to the First Lady? A local woman is asking women who admire Michelle Obama to write Mrs. Obama a letter.
Lavonia Perryman says she came up with the idea after becoming weary of reading and hearing derogatory remarks about the First Lady.
"I woke up one morning after so many stories about the First Lady that were very derogatory and not appealing to the public for a First Lady in representing her," said Perryman. "So I decided, along with some other folk around the country, that we would do something positive instead of being angry about it, be proactive."
"This is not a personal project, this is a project that is a heartfelt project and it comes from the heart. And most of the woman who are writing letters will probably will never meet the First Lady, but they have a bonding with her, based on who she is, what she says and how she says it, and how she does it," said Perryman.
Perryman says she will gather all the letters and put them into a book, with a chapter for each state.
She's inviting only women to take part. She says the next book will include men.
