Amtrak Changing Train Schedules In Michigan
DEARBORN (WWJ/AP) - Amtrak is temporarily altering schedules for its train routes in southeastern and western Michigan in order to repair parts of the tracks.
The passenger rail provider made the announcement on Friday, saying the moves are necessary due to Norfolk Southern Railway's orders to slow passenger trains to 25 to 30 miles per hour on certain track segments. Amtrak says Norfolk Southern is preparing to make repairs to its tracks, starting in early April.
Effective Monday, Amtrak says the morning eastbound Wolverine train from Chicago will terminate in Dearborn rather than in Pontiac. And the evening westbound Wolverine train will originate in Dearborn rather than in Pontiac.
Amtrak also has posted temporary schedules in West Michigan for the Blue Water trains that use Norfolk Southern-owned track between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo.
