Amtrak Adds Chicago-Michigan Trains For Holiday Travel
CHICAGO (WWJ/AP) - Amtrak is adding more trains on its Chicago-Michigan route to accommodate increased demand during the busy travel period at the end of December.
Amtrak will have two additional daily trains between Chicago and Ann Arbor from Dec. 21-23 and Dec. 28-30. Normally, the Wolverine Service has three daily roundtrips between the two cities.
From Ann Arbor, there is continuing service to Detroit-area stations.
Thanksgiving ridership on the route rose nearly 17 percent from last year to reach more than 15,000 passengers.
Amtrak says that resulted largely from the operation of extra holiday trains.
