AmeriCorps Members Helping Build 2 Homes In Lincoln Park
LINCOLN PARK (AP) — Members of AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps are helping Habitat for Humanity Detroit build two homes for families in Michigan.
The nine-member team from AmeriCorps' North Central Region campus in Vinton, Iowa, has been working for about a month in Lincoln Park and is expected to complete the projects by April 23.
They are painting and helping install siding, trim and cabinets. They also plan to help frame and roof a home on Detroit's eastside if weather permits.
Corps member and New Hampshire native Regan Naughton said she is "overjoyed to serve with the Lincoln Park community and to lend a hand in bringing hope to those in need of homes."
Naughton and other members make 10-month, full-time commitments to service with AmeriCorps.
