Amber Alert Canceled For Missing 5-year-old Detroit Girl
UPDATE: Detroit police say a 5-year-old girl who was reported missing overnight by her mother is safe, but now they're trying to piece together some more details in the case.
WWJ City Beat Reporter Vickie Thomas, reporting from the Sixth Precinct where Iyana Oldham was dropped off, says a woman who identified herself as the suspect's cousin, disputes the story the child's mother told police.
"It was all a lie," the woman said.
Why do you say that?" Thomas asked.
"Cause it was, it was. She lied. She was mad. She lied."
"Why is she mad?" Thomas responded.
"Because she want him and she can't have him. You know how some women get salty over men. She salty."
The woman went on to say that the suspect, 33-year-old Desmond Johnson, who is not Iyana's father, threw a party for the little girl.
At the time, Iyana and her mother were inside the 6th precinct. The FBI is now involved in the case, and authorities are still looking for Johnson.
