Alternatives For Girls To Honor Role Models
DETROIT (WWJ) - A local organization that literally gets young women and girls off the streets on the right track is concerned about it's local funding as the city and state faces mounds of red ink.
Alternatives For Girls provides shelter for homeless young women in its eight year old facility on West Grand Blvd. They provide a host of other services including street outreach.
WWJ CityBeat Reporter Vickie Thomas spoke with President and CEP Amy Good, who says local role models will be honored at their annual fundraiser on March 31st.
"There's Monica Morgan -- she's a world renowned photographer. She mentors young women. We're honoring Valorie Newmam, who's at the State Appellate Defender's office. And then there's Ann Nicholson, who is receiving our champion role model award," Good said.
