Alleged Serial Bank Robber, Accomplice, Arrested In Eastpointe
EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - An Eastpointe man and his female acquaintance have been arrested in connection with a series of bank robberies Roseville.
Police say 55-year-old Daniel Stacy Galeener was packing a loaded 38 caliber pistol when he was taken into custody Tuesday morning at a Eastland Motel on Gratiot.
He was arraigned in Roseville's 39th District Court on two counts of armed bank robbery and other charges in robberies took place Friday through Monday.
During Monday's robbery, police said, an anti-theft dye pack included with the stolen money exploded and contaminated the cash, so Galeener left the bag in the bank parking lot. It is believed that after being thwarted in that robbery, Galeener proceeded to Clinton Township where he robbed another bank.
Detectives who worked through the night following up various leads were able to identify a woman who was believed to be assisting Galeener.
That accomplice, who was also arrested at the motel, will be arraigned at a later date. Her name will be released a that time.
"I would like to publicly acknowledge the joint effort, cooperation and determination of Roseville's and Eastpointe's Police Detectives who worked diligently over the last 24 hours in an effort to locate and arrest this suspect before his robberies escalated into violence," said Chief James P. Berlin in a statement.
Galeener also being looked at as a possible suspect in several other out state robberies, according to police.
