All Aboard! Museum Offers Historic Train Ride Through Macomb County
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - Want to take a nostalgic trip on a 1930's passenger car pulled by a real diesel locomotive? Well, now you can, thanks to the Michigan Transit Museum.
Buy your tickets in a real caboose, then board the passenger car for a 40 minute ride through Mt. Clemens, Clinton and Harrison Township.
The train departs from Joy Park at 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m. on Sundays through September. Joy Park is located on the north side of Joy Blvd., just one mile north of downtown Mount Clemens.
Train tickets cost $5 for adults, $3 for kids 4-12 and free for kids three and under.
Before or after your train ride, you can also walk through the nearby 1859 Mount Clemens Depot Museum, which is open weekend from 1 to 4 p.m. The depot, located at 200 Grand Avenue, is now restored to its 1900 appearance with exhibits surrounding railroading of that era. Admission is free.
As a reminder, the train depot is not at the same location from which the passenger train departs.
