Airline Adding Service From Oakland County To Chicago, Pellston
WATERFORD TWP. -- An airline that now offers service from Chicago to northern Michigan's Pellston will soon add a route from Oakland County International Airport to both Chicago and Pellston.
Lakeshore Express will add routes from the Waterford Township airport to Chicago and Pellston on June 6.
Pellston's airport is the closest to Petoskey, Mackinac Island, Mackinaw City and St. Ignace. Formerly a stop on Michigan's air service during the days of regulated airline flight, it has long been without regularly scheduled service.
Lakeshore Express flights are $109 one way and include one free checked bag up to 35 pounds. Parking, in-flight drinks and snacks are also free.
Lakeshore Express' fleet consists of Saab 340B airplanes that cruise at a little over 300 mph, making both the Chicago and Pellston flights about an hour long from Waterford Township.
