ACLU Sues Mich. Cities For Medical Marijuana Ban
The American Civil Liberties Union is taking three local communities to court over their medical marijuana laws.
Linda Lott has used medical marijuana to relieve her Multiple Sclerosis pain. Her husband, Bob, has also used the drug -- and the ACLU of Michigan has filed suit on their behalf.
WWJ spoke with one of the plaintiffs, Bob Lott, who said he wants to grow medical marijuana at his business in Livonia.
"I believe in the government staying out of my bedroom, staying out of my business, and I feel these cities are trying to dictate how I treat my wife's debilitating disease," Lott said.
"Linda has suffered from Multiple Sclerosis for twenty-eight years, and regular medications are no longer effective at reliving her pain. And, her husband, Bob, was recently diagnosed with Glaucoma and could eventually go blind," said ACLU attorney Dan Korobkin.
Korobkin said both Linda and Bob Lott have been prescribed medical marijuana by their physicians.
