Accused Murderer Captured At Detroit-Windsor Border
DETROIT (WWJ) - A 24-year-old man wanted in connection with his ex-girlfriend's murder has been arrested at the Detroit-Windsor border.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said 24-year old Lee Williams was first denied entry into Canada by border officials at the Detroit Windsor Tunnel based on "immigration reasons" last Friday.
Upon his return to the U.S., border officials conducted fingerprint checks and received a positive match that Williams was wanted in connection to a homicide in Wyandotte County, Kansas.
Officers then contacted the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Department and received a photo of Williams and a confirmation of the warrant, which was issued the previous day.
Williams, who has an extradition hearing Monday in Detroit, is suspected of killing 20-year-old Ty'Shai Carvin, the mother of his 2-year-old son. Police said Carvin was shot multiple times inside her home.
