Accident In Shelby Township Injures Father, Son In Critical Condition
SHELBY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Tragedy compounded in Shelby Township as a serious car accident injures a father and critically injures his son - the same evening three teens die in a separate accident.
Police tell WWJ, a single car accident Friday night, in which a father lost control of his car - striking a bridge pillar.
His 17-year-old son, a passenger in the car, was critically injured. The teen is on a ventilator at an area hospital.
Police have not released the names of the father and son involved in the accident.
The accident happened the same evening as a crash which killed three teenagers from the Macomb area.
"It's really sad ... it really makes you think about life and death," said Tianna Almy, a student at Stevenson High School.
The teen is a student at Stevenson -- which had grief counselors on hand Monday to help students cope with the deaths of two of their classmates and a third from an area Macomb high school.
"It's just really sad, I don't know any of them really well but just the fact that they are not here anymore - it's hard to ... understand," said Stevenson high school student Issac Lopes.
